The Isle of Skoo puppet show is an interactive program that incorporates social emotional themes through storytelling, puppetry, music, movement, and audience participation. The program teaches children self-awareness and coping skills while having fun. The stories told include the themes of inclusion, bullying, making friends and dealing with emotions that are sometimes difficult to identify or handle (like anxiety or anger). The students are spoken to as “lighthouse keepers” and find purpose in the job of helping others, being kind to one another and understanding the metaphor of shining your light.
